PUBG:BG Rebrand

PUBG: Battlegrounds Rebrand

PUBG needed a modern brand system that could carry the franchise into its next phase as a live service platform. The existing identity had become fragmented across years of updates, events, and campaigns, making it difficult to scale the brand across new initiatives.

As Creative Director, I helped drive the push to evolve the visual identity while preserving the core visual DNA that players already recognized. The goal was to modernize the brand without losing the gritty, grounded tone that defined PUBG.

The result was a flexible identity system designed to work across marketing campaigns, esports broadcasts, live events, and global publishing channels while also positioning PUBG as a broader entertainment IP capable of supporting future titles and collaborations.

PUBG x BLACKPINK Collaboration Teaser

PUBG x BLACKPINK Teaser

This teaser announced PUBG’s collaboration with global music phenomenon BLACKPINK, bringing together two massive fan communities across gaming and pop culture.

The creative challenge was merging BLACKPINK’s bold visual identity with PUBG’s darker, tactical world without losing the recognizability of either brand. Rather than recreating a traditional gameplay environment, the piece leaned into a more abstract, music video–inspired visual language that reflected BLACKPINK’s performance aesthetic.

The teaser combines stylized lighting, stage-like environments, and atmospheric visuals with subtle PUBG elements, allowing iconic in-game objects and silhouettes to anchor the collaboration within the PUBG universe.

The piece also included early hints of expanding lore within the broader PUBG universe initiative, planting small narrative cues while maintaining the high-energy tone expected from a BLACKPINK reveal.

PUBG: New State Brand System

PUBG: New State Branding

PUBG: New State was the first major step toward expanding PUBG into a broader universe. Set in the near future, the project introduced new factions, technology, and world-building while still maintaining a clear connection to the core PUBG identity.

As Creative Director, I helped guide the development of the New State brand system, ensuring it felt like a natural evolution of the franchise rather than a completely separate property. The identity needed to signal a new era for the universe while preserving the recognizable visual DNA that players associated with PUBG.

The resulting system combined futuristic design language with familiar brand elements, allowing the title to stand on its own while still feeling anchored within the larger PUBG franchise.

PUBG: Battlegrounds Free-to-Play Cinematic

PUBG: Battlegrounds Free-to-Play Launch

In January 2022, PUBG: Battlegrounds transitioned to a free-to-play model, marking one of the most significant strategic shifts in the franchise’s history. To support the change, we developed a cinematic campaign designed to reintroduce the game to a global audience while signaling a new era of accessibility for players.

The campaign was intentionally timed alongside the PUBG brand refresh so both initiatives would land as a unified moment for the franchise. The cinematic served as the flagship announcement, combining narrative storytelling with gameplay themes that reinforced PUBG’s core identity while inviting a new generation of players into the ecosystem.

As Creative Director, I worked with Krafton and the Goodbye Kansas team to guide the creative development of the cinematic, shaping the visual tone, narrative direction, and brand integration to ensure the piece aligned with the updated franchise identity.

The launch produced a major surge in player engagement globally:

• New player counts increased 486% worldwide during the first week after the transition
• Regional growth reached 537% across Southeast Asia, South America, and CIS markets
• PUBG reached 690,000+ concurrent players on Steam, becoming the top ranked game on the platform at the time
• Average playtime increased 100% week over week, with PlayStation engagement rising 400%

The goal was to create a cohesive visual system that worked seamlessly across live audiences, broadcast viewers, and digital platforms.

The design system extended from arena LED walls and stage environments to broadcast overlays, event signage, marketing assets, and trophy design, ensuring the tournament maintained a consistent identity across every touchpoint.

Across the tournament weekend the event reached over 60 million total viewers globally, making it one of the largest esports broadcasts in the PUBG ecosystem.

Overworld Launch Trailer

Overworld Launch Trailer

The Overworld launch trailer was created to introduce the world, characters, and tone of the project through a stylized 2D animated cinematic. The goal was to establish a strong first impression for the IP while setting the visual direction for future storytelling and marketing.

As Creative Director, I led the overall concept and visual direction for the piece, working closely with Double Plus Productions to develop an animation style that balanced expressive character performance with bold, graphic environments. The approach focused on strong silhouettes, dynamic composition, and stylized motion to give the trailer a cinematic feel while maintaining clarity during fast-paced action moments.

The trailer was developed through an iterative storyboard and animatic process, allowing us to shape pacing, character moments, and visual beats before final animation production. This ensured the narrative structure and tone were clear while giving the animation team space to bring energy and personality to the performances.

The final piece served as the primary launch trailer for the project and helped establish the visual tone and narrative identity of the Overworld universe.

PUBG Nations Cup 2019

PUBG Nations Cup 2019

The PUBG Nations Cup brought together national teams from around the world to compete in a country-versus-country tournament format. The event required a distinct visual identity that could celebrate national pride while remaining cohesive across the global PUBG esports ecosystem.

As Creative Director, I led the development of the tournament’s visual identity and design system, spanning stage environments, broadcast graphics, marketing assets, and onsite activations. The goal was to create a flexible visual language that could represent multiple countries while maintaining a unified tournament brand.

The identity centered on a modular wreath motif built from national color systems, symbolizing global competition while allowing each participating country to be visually represented within the larger structure. This system translated across broadcast overlays, arena visuals, key art, and promotional materials used throughout the event.

The tournament generated significant global visibility, producing 682 media articles with an estimated 1.1 billion media reach. Across the tournament weekend the broadcast reached over 40 million concurrent viewers across platforms.

PUBG: New State Cinematic Teaser

PUBG: New State – CG Teaser

This cinematic teaser introduced PUBG: New State, a new entry in the PUBG universe set in a near-future world. The objective was to establish the tone and identity of the new title while positioning it as a natural evolution of the original Battlegrounds.

The teaser focused on cinematic worldbuilding rather than gameplay, using controlled visual reveals and environmental storytelling to introduce the new setting, emerging technologies, and shifting factions that define the New State world. The approach allowed the piece to build intrigue around the future of the PUBG universe while clearly signaling a distinct direction for the new game.

As Creative Director, I led the creative development of the teaser in collaboration with external production partners, shaping the visual language, pacing, and narrative beats to support the broader launch campaign.

PUBG: Battlegrounds Game Intro

PUBG: Battlegrounds Intro Video

This piece began as an internal creative exploration while our team was developing the evolving PUBG brand system. The goal was to experiment with a more cinematic interpretation of the franchise’s core iconography.

The animation focuses on deconstructing and reconstructing the PUBG helmet and logo, using mechanical fragmentation, lighting, and material detail to emphasize the weight and physicality of the game’s most recognizable symbols.

What started as a brand exploration eventually evolved into the official intro video used within the game itself, serving as a short visual moment that reinforces the PUBG identity before players enter the experience.

PUBG: Season 9

PUBG Season 9 – Paramo Campaign

Visual identity and campaign direction for PUBG Season 9.

Season 9 introduced Paramo, a dynamic volcanic map inspired by South American landscapes and Incan design motifs. The goal for the season was to push PUBG’s visual style beyond its traditional muted palette and introduce a more dramatic color language built around volcanic reds, warm yellows, and textured atmospheric effects.

As Visual Design Director, I led the development of the season’s visual identity across multiple touchpoints including key art, trailer direction, survivor pass branding, and marketing assets. The work combined environmental storytelling with layered textures and graphic elements to reinforce the volcanic theme of the new map.

The final campaign extended across storefronts, promotional trailers, seasonal branding, and in-game content, establishing a cohesive visual system for the Season 9 rollout.

The Overworld brand identity was developed to establish a bold and recognizable visual foundation for the studio and its emerging IP. The goal was to create a mark that felt modern, confident, and adaptable across marketing, game content, and digital platforms.

As Creative Director, I led the development of the brand system, working with the team to explore typography-driven solutions that emphasized strength, clarity, and flexibility. The final identity centers on a custom logotype designed to feel iconic and scalable, capable of functioning across large campaign moments as well as smaller digital applications.

The system includes multiple lockups and typographic treatments, allowing the brand to adapt to different contexts while maintaining a consistent visual language. These variations enable the identity to scale across promotional materials, product branding, and studio communications while preserving a strong and recognizable presence.

PUBG: Battlegrounds Free-to-Play Launch Campaign

PUBG: Battlegrounds Free-to-Play Campaign Key Art

This key art was created to support the global transition of PUBG: Battlegrounds to a free-to-play model, one of the most significant shifts in the franchise’s lifecycle. The objective was to visually signal a new chapter for the game while reinforcing the scale, tension, and iconic imagery that define the PUBG experience.

As Creative Director, I led the development of the campaign’s core visual concept, working with Lost Project to craft a composition that represented the influx of new players entering the Battlegrounds. The image centers on a large formation of fighters advancing toward the viewer while parachutes descend in the distance, referencing the signature moment of dropping into the map that players immediately recognize.

The artwork was designed to function as the primary campaign visual across a wide range of marketing placements, including storefront features, platform promotions, digital advertising, and social media formats. Its cinematic lighting, layered depth, and wide composition allowed the image to scale across multiple aspect ratios while maintaining a strong focal point and recognizable PUBG identity.

The final piece became the central global marketing visual used to promote the transition to free-to-play across storefronts, digital campaigns, and platform promotions.

The free-to-play launch drove a significant surge in player engagement. In the first week following the January 2022 transition, PUBG: Battlegrounds saw a 486 percent increase in new players globally, with certain territories experiencing growth rates as high as 537 percent. The game also reached a peak of over 690,000 concurrent players on Steam during the launch window, making it the top-ranked game on the platform at that time.

As Creative Director, I worked with the team at Two Fresh to develop a composition that blended the grounded, tactical aesthetic of PUBG with the stylized characters and playful tone of Among Us. The goal was to immediately communicate the crossover while maintaining the visual identity of both franchises.

The artwork stages the impostors entering the New State world, creating a sense of tension between the familiar PUBG characters and the unexpected arrival of the Among Us crew. Lighting, color, and scale were used to highlight the contrast between the two styles while keeping the image cohesive as a marketing asset.

My role focused on guiding character stylization, color palettes, and packaging design to ensure the products aligned with the established visual standards of the franchise.

PUBG: Season 7

My team was in charge of global branding for our seasonal content and designing the key arts that would best serve publishings marketing initiatives.

I working with the Marketing team for the Survivor Pass name’s visual identity. Pulling from key elements that we felt best reflected the new Vikendi. And tieing major themes that we could weave a design narrative around the lockup.

We decided for this season we would focus on Dinopark and design around new vs old by including the finch that we used for the original reveal of Vikendi and a Pterodactyl to represent the new Dinopark.

We aimed for a bold and expressive season instead of our standard muted pallet ranges. And saw an overwhelming response from that the past season.
